The Government does not intend to continue establishing quotas on grain exports
Mr. Mykola Prysiazhniuk, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Supplies, says that starting from 1 July 2011 the Government will no longer restrict export of grain crops.
The grain export quotas were introduced in October 2010 to be in effect till 31 December 2010. However, those quotas were first extended till 31 March 2011 and then till 30 June 2011. The practice of establishing quotas has been widely criticized both, in Ukraine and abroad. Lots of companies could not obtain a quota and export their grain because they failed to obtain the required conclusions of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Supplies in due time.
So, the situation may change in summer. But will the Ukrainian officials keep their promise?
