Ronald Marks is a Canadian lawyer with experience in both government and the private sector in Canada and Ukraine. A graduate of the University of Toronto and Queen's University, Ronald served in the executive branch of the Government of Ontario, working in the Office of the Premier, as well as in the civil service, where he was Assistant to the Deputy Minister of Health. Ronald then entered private practice and was elected to local government in the City of Toronto. His work as Chairman of Toronto's Education Finance Committee, personally overseeing a budget of then some CDN $300 million - equipped him with solid financial skills. In 1994, Ronald submitted an outsourcing proposal to the Government of Canada which was subsequently approved. This major outsourcing project helped sharpen Ron's legal skills in the areas of project management, technology, and public-private partnerships. With Ukrainian roots on his father's side, Ronald began work in a Ukrainian law firm in 2005, working with international clients in many areas, including competition law, land and construction law, IP law, M&A and general corporate law, as well as acting as an intermediary between external lawyers, clients and Ukrainian lawyers, managing projects and supervising lawyers to ensure adherence to Western "best practices". Ronald maintains his legal edge through attendance at courses on e-Government, e-Commerce Law, advanced issues in e-evidence, trans-border economic crime and other legal subjects, in England, Austria, the United States, Mexico and Canada. Ronald is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and a Life Member of the Inter-American Bar Association. Ronald is fluent in English and has a working knowledge of Ukrainian and Russian. He is the firm's Senior Counsel and Head of Business Development and is based in Kiev.
