Nine leading law firms from the countries of the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) economic region announce the launch of a new alliance, The CIS Leading Counsel Network, which aims to transcend the national boundaries and offer clients a seamless advice across these fast developing markets.

В прошлом году стало известно о создании профессиональной сети CIS Leading Counsel Network, участниками которой, в частности, стали Aequitas (со стороны РК) и Ukrainian Legal Group (cо стороны Украины). Ирина Палиашвили, президент Ukrainian Legal Group, признается, что ее фирме рынок Казахстана интересен. Сейчас есть совместные проекты, однако пока они исходят от украинской компании. "Но мы уверены, что будут генерироваться и проекты из Казахстана, и более широкие проекты через CIS Leading Counsel Network, которые будут включать и Казахстан, и Украину", - говорит г-жа Палиашвили.

The CIS Leading Counsel Network (LCN) announced it was seeking three new members. The "best friends" group which launched last year and is spearheaded by Russian firm Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners, is on the lookout for members in Georgia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. LCN, which also includes Ukrainian practice RULG, Azerbaijan's FINA and Moldovan outfit Turcan & Turcan, was born out of the CIS Local Counsel Forum networking group.

Nine-strong CIS legal network gets off ground
A nine-member CIS network that launched at the beginning of November is planning to bring the alliance model into the 21st century, according to its chair. The Leading Counsel Network (LCN) is a non-exclusive alliance of firms from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Turkmenistan and Ukraine. The network's first meeting was held in Russia at the offices of Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners. RULG-Ukrainian Legal Group founder Irina Paliashvili was elected LCN's first chair in a one-year rotating presidency aimed at promoting democracy and ensuring that not only firms from the largest economies hold sway.

In the week that good old Gorby was in Berlin to recall the collapse of the Soviet Empire it is highly appropriate that nine top law firms from the Commonwealth of Independent States should launch a new alliance, the CIS Leading Counsel Network, to offer clients "seamless advice across these fast developing markets".

Nine firms from across the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) launched a legal network at the beginning of November.

Called the CIS Leading Counsel Network, the group consists of: Ashga Consulting Team in Turkmenistan, Aequitas Law in Kazakhstan, Ameria in Armenia, Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev and partners in Russia, Fina in Azerbaijan, Kalikova & Associates in Kyrgyzstan, Rulg in Ukraine, Turcan & Turcan in Moldova and Vlasova Mikhel & Patners in Belarus.

The network announced that Rulg partner Irina Paliashvili was elected as its first chairwoman. Ms Paliashvili commented: "As our profession is becoming more globalized, it is increasingly important for independent law firms to offer clients top quality cross-border capabilities, especially within our broader economic regions".

She described the alliance as being a "combination of the traditional non-exclusive network approach with innovative ideas answering the demands of the modern markets. It allows participating firms to retain the independence while harmonizing and enhancing their services."

Russian giant Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners is at the forefront of a new legal alliance spanning nine of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The non-exclusive group, dubbed the CIS Leading Counsel Network (LCN), is aiming to provide a pan-CIS association to target the emerging local markets. Egorov is the central Russian member of LCN which also includes Ameria (Armenia), FINA (Azerbaijan), Vlasova Mikhel & Partners (Belarus), Aequitas (Kazakhstan), Kalikova & Associates (Kyrgyzstan), Turcan & Turcan (Moldova), ACT (Turkmenistan) and RULG - Ukrainian Legal Group (Ukraine).

LCN will be overseen by a chairperson from one of the participating firms. Irina Paliashvili, the managing partner at RULG, was elected as the first chair of the group. The inaugural meeting of the network was also attended by Oleg de Lousanoff (Hengeler Mueller) and Patrick Dziewolski (Bredin Prat).

Domestic Leaders Join Forces for Best Friends-Inspired Alliance Newly formed CIS Local Counsel Network is the region's first.
Nine leading CIS firms - including one of Slaughter and May's Russian best friends - have joined forces to create the region's first alliance network, Legal Business can reveal. The CIS Local Counsel Network (LCN), which formally launched in September, aims to target referrals from international law firms and also capture an increasing share of inter-CIS investment work.
